The travel business is really made up of an interlocking and overlapping set of individual markets. One of the strangest involves passenger service to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, aka North Korea. It is creepily fascinating, and served by only two carriers. The DPRK’s entrant is state-owned monopoly (of course!) Air Koryo. The video below by Tech Insider profiles what it calls the country’s one-star airline. A somewhat more favorable assessment is offered by peripatetic vlogger Sam Chui on one of his recent voyagers to the northern half of the peninsula.
While one must admire the sense of adventure of those who take these types of trips, I can’t help feeling that some voyages are best made via armchair 🙂
